Sip & Spin Vol. 01: Lifted, Fresh Perspective & Mood Indigo

From the Selector, Vol. 01. Records for the ritual.
Every week: one record, and something to sip while it spins. Sip & Spin is a pairing, not a playlist. Needle down, cup poured, let them talk to each other.
The Record
Parker Louis — Lifted (Vinyl)
Selector's listening notes:
Parker Louis's Lifted is a slow burner in the best way. It grooves from the first note: half-time vocals riding hard rhythms, acoustic piano holding your hand through it, harmonies that comfort and melodies with sharp note selection. Bluesy guitar cuts in at choice spots, sine synths glide around your ears, and the drumming nods to Dilla in all the right places.
The whole record is an exercise in patience that never drags. Tempos stay unhurried but the drums still cut. Backgrounds sound angelic, hooks carry real bravado, and Parker sings like a man with nothing to prove and everything to share. There are earworm riffs, volume swells that leave you hanging in the air, and enough space throughout for the musicianship to breathe.
It is a slow-down-and-take-your-time record, silk sheets playlist material. Strong side A vibes. Standouts are "Nothing & Everything" and "Lifted," with "Say Less" earning an honorable mention. Great listen and an easy recommend. This one stays in rotation.
Pairing notes
The Coffee
Greater Goods — Fresh Perspective (Ethiopia)
A bright Ethiopian lot for the first side. Coffee for the daylight part of the ritual.
The Tea
August Uncommon — Mood Indigo
Black tea with orange for the second half. When the record flips, so does the cup.
The Pairing
One volume, three parts: the spin, the sip, and the steep. That is the whole idea — day, noon, and night rituals with vinyl at the center.
